Nuc Installation Demonstration

Attend a demonstration on how to transfer nucs, check to ensure your nuc is queen-right, and get a brief overview of what is inside the hive and what to expect when you take your bees home. This short session will also be an opportunity to ask questions and meet other beekeepers. You must wear a bee suit and gloves to participate in this event. We require all participants to be suited for safety. Bee suits and gloves are available for purchase in our shop if needed for the event. Although we will cover some hive basics, this demonstration is not meant to be a substitute for a hands-on beekeeping course.

Location: Flying Bee Ranch, 5180 Lardon Rd. NE Salem, OR 97305

Please Wear:

• Light colored clothing and pants without holes; loose fit is best; tight fitting clothes e.g. skinny jeans are not recommended.
• Sturdy, closed-toed shoes with a high ankle support (required)
• White or light color full-length socks
• Baseball hat (helps keep bee suit off face)

Do Not Wear:

• Perfumes/Cologne
• Dark/Fuzzy clothing
• High healed or Open toed shoes

Bring with you:

• A bee suit and gloves (we sell both in our shop if you need them)
• Water bottle – It is hot inside a bee suit; expect to sweat a little
• Phone/Camera
• Beekeeping questions!

Do Not Bring:

• Pets
• Tobacco/Vapes
• Alcohol

Disclaimer: Nuc installation demonstrations involve working with live honey bees. Participation in our nuc installation is at your own risk. A signed disclaimer is required to participate (available on site when you arrive). Minors (13-18 year of age) are required to have a parent/guardian on-site during the experience. Youth 12 and under are required to have a parent/guardian participate in the nuc transfer demonstration with their child.
