Oregon Creamed Honey
Creamed Honey is really something special. Consider creamed honey the crème de la crème of raw honey. From a practical standpoint, we prefer creamed honey to liquid honey. This is because its thickness makes less of a mess. When the kids are making breakfast or grabbing a spoonful after school, lets be honest cleaning up after themselves isn’t always the case. With creamed honey you don’t have to worry about sticky drips on the floor, table, or counters to clean up!
At Flying Bee Ranch, we source our creamed honey from a pair of beekeepers who define the art of beekeeping. Al and Diane Buhr share a passion for beekeeping and operate a small apiary a few miles east of our farm. The Buhr’s use a traditional manner of creaming honey; traditionally beekeepers use a low temperature process to slow down the natural crystallization of honey without damaging it. Using a mortar and pestle and a heavy dose of beekeeper love, creamed honey is made by slowly introducing liquid raw honey to a creamed honey starter. Creamed honey starters can be made from powdered honey or crystallized honey. At Flying Bee Ranch we are proud to offer this uncommon treat made from local wildflower honey.
